Linda and Joseph Ricchio

Linda Ricchio (b. USA, 1956)
Joseph Ricchio (b. USA, 1955)

Joseph and Linda Ricchio are both graduates of California State University Long Beach. Their respective backgrounds in industrial design and interiors led them naturally to furniture design. Their first chair for Knoll, the Ricchio Chair, features carefully contoured lines and a comfortably scooped back for a contemporary and timeless aesthetic—earning it a 1991 ROSCOE Award. The success of the original Ricchio Chair prompted Knoll to collaborate twice more with Joseph Ricchio. The JR and Joe Chairs are both more compact designs derived from the Ricchio Chair.

Joseph attributes many of his design sensibilities to the time he spent studying art and design in Florence. After working as a designer at a southern California industrial design consultancy he established Ricchio Design in 1985. He is a member of the California State University Long Beach Design Department teaching Furniture Design. In 2004 he established the Ricchio Design Retreat taking students each year to various design venues such as Neocon in Chicago and Salone del Mobile in Milan.

Linda's work experience ranges from interior design and space planning with various southern California design firms to magazine design and art direction.
