A Yale University graduate and Fulbright Scholar with a master’s degree in architecture, Charles Gwathmey has become an icon of contemporary design. Since establishing Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects in 1968, he has physically changed the American landscape with countless designs over the past three decades. One of his collaborations with Siegel is the Knoll Boston building on fashionable Newbury Street. The pair also worked together to design the wooden desk and credenza for Knoll, which they consider a microcosm of their guiding architectural principles: function and simplicity, and, thus, attractive and modern. |
