What's the first thing you do in the morning?

Wish that I could sleep more, then call my partner (who lives in Washington, DC) to say good morning.

What's the best-designed object in your life?

Currently it's my MacBook Air

What recent movie or TV show has inspired you?

"Hugo." I am a sucker for gorgeous visuals (and, apparently, sentimentality).

What's your first "design moment" or "design memory"?

Touring a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house as a child in my hometown of Phoenix.

What's your favorite room in your house?

The library: great light, great architecture, great furniture, great books.

What's your favorite public space?

Manhattan.

What 's your favorite building?

Too many to answer.

What's the best city for design?

Don't know!

Who's your design mentor or hero?

My heroes change as my interests change, but Eero Saarinen and Charles Eames always remain.
