The New York Times today featured recently reintroduced classic Knoll designs by Eero Saarinen and George Nakashima in the Personal Shopper column of the paper's House & Home section.
For her piece on "Midcentury Modern Revivals," Marianne Rohrlich selected the Nakashima straight backed chair and the Saarinen dining chair. The Saarinen chairs are featured in a modern interior dining room.
"The chairs," says Rohrlich, "work as accents in rooms furnished with pieces from other periods and in midcentury-style interiors."
George Nakashima designed his straight backed chair for Knoll in 1948. The chair went out of production in 1954, but Knoll is reintroducing it for availability in January.
Saarinen's 1957 design has not been available with wood legs since 1976. It was reintroduced last year.
