NEW YORK, NY, June 29, 2010 — The Rodarte for Knoll Luxe Collection has won a Gold award and the KnollTextiles Screenplay Collection has won a Silver award in the Best of NeoCon® 2010 competition. Neocon, which was held June 14-16 in Chicago, is the contract furniture industry's annual trade exposition.
Rodarte for Knoll Luxe, the new collection of five upholstery and three drapery patterns by the celebrated American fashion house of Kate and Laura Mulleavy, won this top honor in the upholstery category.
The signature collection is an abstract translation of Rodarte's runway inspirations throughout the last five years. The five fabrics within the series are named after the design label's favorite poets: Byron creates texture through a unique shrink yarn technique; Cummings is a large scale organic; Whitman is a classic heavy-textured wool; Keats is a series of embroidered circles; and Lowell is a sumptuous high loop mohair.
Commenting on the Best of NeoCon Gold award-winning collection, Knoll Luxe and KnollTextiles Creative Director, Dorothy Cosonas, stated: "Translating fashion fabrics into suitable interior textiles has pushed Knoll in innovative directions—discovery of new mills, new constructions and new technologies. The collaboration with the Mulleavy sisters has been very inspiring."
In addition, Screenplay™ Environmental Technology patterns, Genre and Box Office, were awarded a Silver Award in the wall treatments category. Designed by Suzanne Tick for KnollTextiles, these multi-use fabrics provide an architectural aesthetic as well as excellent acoustic properties, extreme durability and easy cleanability. They are the first fabrics to make use of 100% Earthtex® fibers that are both inherently antimicrobial and PVC-free.
The Best of NeoCon Awards honors new commercial interiors products. Approximately 60 jurors, both interior designers and facility managers, review almost 400 products in 40 categories.
