With a standing inventory of 2,000,000 square feet in our global headquarters in Getzville, New York, Spinneybeck is the world's leading and largest supplier of quality upholstery leather.

Spinneybeck was founded by Charlie Manchee in a rural schoolhouse outside Stouffville, Ontario in 1962. He was the first supplier to bring full grain, aniline dyed Italian leather to the North American design community. Two decades later, Spinneybeck incorporated and opened a U.S. facility headquartered in a converted stable in Niagara Falls, New York.

From those humble beginnings, our clientele throughout North America, and around the globe, has propelled Spinneybeck to become the world's premier supplier of quality upholstery leather.

The first Spinneybeck representatives — just two men — traveled across North America carrying weathered duffel bags containing a rare and precious cargo, which they shared with designers and professionals.

Decades later, Spinneybeck continues to be known as the firm which supplies premium aniline dyed upholstery leather to North America. No other supplier offers the quantities and qualities offered by Spinneybeck. Spinneybeck's affiliation and partnership with the Gobbetti family, who specialize exclusively in upholstery leather production, provides Spinneybeck with the finest leathers available. The recipes for these leathers are under exclusive license and can only be admired by the competition.

The daughter of architect, designer, and Knoll collaborator Gianfrano Frattini, Emanuela Frattini Magnusson has had an illustrious design career. After receiving her master's in architecture from Politecnico di Milano, she worked for Charles Pfister’s London office and for former Knoll graphic designer Tibor Kalman in New York. Ultimately, she established her own design and architecture firm, EFM, in New York City. The accomplished firm works in architecture, industrial design, interiors, graphics, and brand identity.

Frattini Magnusson first collaborated with Knoll in 1993 to develop the Cecilia side chair, a light-weight bentwood design. In 1994 she came back to Knoll with an idea for a table system that would bring flexibility, adaptability, and power management to the training table category. Introduced as the Propeller Table System, the product has been a best seller since its introduction and was awarded the prestigious IDEA Award by Business Week.
