Bloomberg Businessweek included Knoll’s Remix® Side Chair in “The Rainbow Collection,” a feature on colorful furniture for the workplace. Part of the Remix collection, which also includes a Work Chair and High Back Chair, the Side Chair debuted was first introduced in 2014 at NeoCon in Chicago.
Remix was developed by Formway Design, a New Zealand-based furniture practice founded in 1956. Focusing on extensive research and collaborative design, the company brings insights on human behavior, aesthetics, and sustainability to the fabrication of high-performance furniture. Formway’s collaboration with Knoll goes back to 2002 with the introduction of the highly successful Life® Chair. Celebrated for its integration of responsive ergonomics and environmental attributes into a sophisticated design, Life was used as the starting point for a second collaboration in 2009, which resulted in the Generation family of chairs.
Like Formway’s past designs for Knoll, Remix focuses on an elastic design that is suited to the pace of the modern office worker. The upholstered Remix Side Chair features integrated flexors which also provide a flexible and supportive back, delivering unexpected performance in a familiar form. Available with casters or glides, its simple structure and vibrant range of upholstery options make the Remix Side Chair an elegant addition to the modern office or home.
