The material science and technology behind Generation by Knoll®, the ergonomic task chair that "revolutionized the world of office seating," is detailed in an October 16, 2012 story posted on the DuPont website.
Generation by Knoll®, the first office chair to be rated SMaRT© Sustainable Platinum, has continued to garner praise since being introduced in 2009.
"The materials used in the chair's construction are vital from both an aesthetic and functional standpoint," noted Nicole Mirchandani, Knoll senior marketing director. "The use of renewably sourced materials also enables us to deliver a pace-setting design that reinforces our commitment to sustainability," she added.
Generation's high-performance back is made of DuPont thermoplastics in the form of renewably sourced DuPont™ Hytrel® RS TPC-ET. The chair's Dynamic Suspension control is constructed of DuPont™ Hytrel® TPC-ET and DuPont™ Crastin® PBT.
The post adds that Generation by Knoll® "supports many different postures and allows for a wide range of multi-dimensional movement — not just from front-to-back, but also from side-to-side. Users also can push against the Flex Top of the backrest and it will bend over to support their arm as they turn and chat with a colleague."
