The editors at Metropolis have selected Prism™ to win a #MetropolisLikes award at NeoCon 2015. #MetropolisLikes is a viral social media awards program that the magazine presents for a number of trade shows during the year. Prism by David Adjaye is one of 35 products at NeoCon 2015 that were selected from over 300 submissions.
"These bold geometric pieces are in sync with Knoll's tradition of creating sculptural pieces like [those designed by] Saarinen and Bertoia, yet are distinctly of our times, and provide a good level of comfort and ergonomics," said Paul Makovsky, Metropolis Editorial Director.
Debuting at NeoCon 2015, Prism is David Adjaye's new addition to his critically acclaimed 2013 Washington Collection and his first foray into lounge furniture for Knoll. The suite, which includes a swiveling club chair, an ottoman and a side table, explores twenty-first century sculptural forms that command a presence in any setting. "Furniture isn't just an exercise to deal with ergonomics," said Adjaye. "It's also how an object occupies space. It's how form gives presence or absence to an environment."
These considerations are evident in Prism's design, which displays Adjaye's ongoing fascination with geometric form and the duality of the effects of light and the heft of material. Thematically as well as visually, it complements Adjaye's Washington Skeleton™ and Skin™ chairs and Corona™ Table.
Metropolis will announce the #MetropolisLikes winners in an ongoing social media campaign through NeoCon, which closes on Wednesday, June 17, and will feature an editorial announcement of all winners on Friday, June 19.
