To create this complex pattern, 36 different stripe layouts were combined to achieve an allover patch work effect. The cut pile reads as velvet while the loop pile is an epingle effect.
The pattern is made by using 14 different colors of yarn on the pile face. The pile is formed by using over 3000 small bobbins. Each must be individually hand tied and weighed on to the creeling machine before the weaving begins. Both of the cut and loop pile techniques are used with all 14 yarn colors which give the appearance of now being 28 colors.
