Florence Knoll described her designs as the fill-in pieces in design projects. "I needed the piece for a job and it wasn't there, so I designed it." While this may have been the motivation for the 1961 Table Desk, the elegant, perfectly proportioned result will be anything but a fill-in piece in your office or dining room.

Florence Knoll
Trained as an architect, Florence Knoll counted Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe among her many friends and trusted mentors. In 1941 she met Hans Knoll and the pair—armed with Florence’s design skills and Hans’ salesmanship—grew a budding company into an international arbiter of design and defined the standard for the modern interiors of post-war America.
