A cultured and creative entrepreneur, Enrio Baleri founded Baleri Italia in 1984 to promote himself and other young designers who were focused on products with strong formal and functional qualities. Baleri discovered a young Philippe Starck, recognizing his innovative use of materials and technology. He has also worked with Alessandro Mendini and Hans Hollein.
Knoll first collaborated with Baleri to develop the Colorforte Table System in 1979. Three years later Knoll introduced the Mega Table, which he designed to look like a stacked dolman. The table featured a highly polished top with rough edges, celebrating the Sardinian granite from which it was constructed.
