Atomic Ranch, the trusted resource for mid-century modern design, included Florence Knoll’s iconic Coffee Table, an enduring example of the designer’s rational design process, in its Spring 2021 round-up of period picks celebrating modernism in the desert.
Architectural Digest’s online outlet, Clever, also included the Coffee Table in a story about glass coffee tables, noting “No matter the size, a glass table will trick the eye into seeing an open space, and its light-catching surface will further brighten up the room.” This story was also syndicated by Yahoo News.
The Florence Knoll Coffee Table, designed to furnish the new interiors of postwar America, is a scaled-down translation of the lines, gestures and materials of modern architecture. Consistent with all of her designs, the table has a spare, geometric presence that reflects the rational design approach Florence Knoll learned from Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
