Gigi® Chair

Marco Maran 2000

Marco Maran is celebrated for designs that are light in spirit and flexible in application. His plastic stacking chair is just that. The distinctive profile gives the seatback both strength and flexibility, while various add-on components and a wide range of colors — from bright to neutral — offer the freedom to specify chairs that adapt to any space. From café to classroom, Gigi works with accessories that include a seatpad, molded plastic arm, tablet arm, ganging bracket and a transportation dolly.

Marco Maran is celebrated for designs that are light in spirit and flexible in application. Trained as an architect and industrial designer, he was voted Best Young Designer at the 1996 Young&Design tradeshow in Milan. Among his notable completed interiors is the Press Room for the 1998 World Cup in Paris, France.

Knoll currently carries two chairs designed by Marco Maran, the Gigi and the X3¬. The Gigi—offered with or without arms, and with a swivel base, traditional legs or as a barstool — features a strikingly profiled polypropylene shell that achieves both strength and flexibility. The X3, an accomplishment in style and technology, uses a shell constructed of clear polycarbonate with an embedded grid, giving the chair an energetic and graphic aesthetic.
