New York, NY, February 4, 2020—KnollTextiles (NYSE: KNL), the first company to address the fabric needs of the commercial interior founded by Florence Knoll in 1947, has introduced the Decennium Collection of upholstery and wallcoverings. The beginning of a new decade prompted KnollTextiles to reflect on the brand’s evolution and direction moving forward, kicking off 2020 with a collection of upholsteries and wallcoverings in bold, abstract patterns.
Inspired by fiber arts, tactile knits and dimensional shapes, Floressence—a large-scale allover organic upholstery fabric—and Billow—a two-tone patterned wallcovering—anchor the collection. Unique foundation products with ample dimensionality and texture round out the Decennium Collection.
In addition, the collection includes three new KT upholsteries at $40/yard and under, including Chameleon, a high-performance polyurethane; Entwine, a multicolor texture; and Cross Tech, a technical knit upholstery. Dazzle drapery features a luxurious sheen, while Zone double-width acoustic sheer has a dry, crisp hand and the appearance of a natural fiber.
Each of these stunning products may be used alone or combined for a thoughtfully layered and integrated interior. The Decennium Collection has nine products from nine different mills across the United States, Europe and Asia. All tree wallcoverings are manufactured in the United States. .
Floressence is a large-scale allover organic upholstery fabric inspired by cloud formations. The complex pattern is achieved by digitally printing six expertly placed and perfectly balanced colors onto a custom dyed, ribbed velvet ground cloth. The soft hand belies high durability with 100,000 Double Rubs.
Entwine is a small-scale pattern with big dimension, thanks to the mixture of fine polyester and high denier cotton yarns in both the warp and weft. A knit-like weave structure creates the appearance of yarn floating on the surface of the fabric. KnollTextiles is known for multicolor textures and Entwine is sure to be the next classic in this category. Entwine has 100,000 Double Rubs plus KT pricing at $38/yard.
Cross Tech is the first Technical Knit from KnollTextiles approved for both upholstery and wrapped panel use. It is acoustically neutral for use with an acoustic substrate or even speaker covers. The honeycomb structure offers a techy appearance with lots of dimension. Multiple uses, KT pricing, stain resistance and high abrasion make Cross Tech a great addition to the line.
Chameleon is a luminous performance polyurethane with KT pricing. The radiant color comes from a ground pigment print that then receives a subtle leather emboss. Chameleon is free of solvents, bleach cleanable, has ink and denim dye resistance, high durability and passes 15-week hydrolysis.
Dazzle is a classic fine sheer. Through a mixture of technology and craftsmanship, the face of the fabric is lightly laminated giving it a subtle luster while the back retains a dry appearance. It is challenging to laminate sheer drapery successfully and have it pass NFPA 701.
Zone is the latest and fifth addition to our acoustic sheer offering. It is double width with a dry natural hand. The proprietary Trevira CS polyester privdes an NRC of 0.40 at 100% fulness. With slightly more opacity, Zone is a wonderful product the curtain wall, as a space divider or for use as an impromptu conference space.
Billow is two-tone allover organic wallcovering pattern inspired by chunky open knits and fiber arts. The mid-sized scale and color options makes it usable for either a feature wall or corridors. A vertical emboss ads visual interest and structure to the abstract pattern. In a concious move towards sustainability; Billow is made in the United States from Phthalate free Type II vinyl. Billow is also in our newly established KT Wall category of wallcovering at $22/yard.
Debut is our first silk-like Type II vinyl wallcovering. Two colors and an emboss creates the appearance of a Dupioni silk with natural slubs. Made in the United States with non-phthalate vinyl, Debut only looks expensive. At $20/yard, it is part of our newly established KT Wall category of wallcovering.
Mystique is a beautiful woven wallcovering appropriate for both direct glue and wrapped panel application. Tape yarn in the weft adds a subtle sparkle. Texture and surface interest is created where the tape turns and folds on itself during the weaving process. There is lovely play between the wet and dry appearance of the yarns. The polyester is made from 100% recycled plastic water and soda bottles. Mystique is also made in the United States.
