KnollTextiles Launches the Destination Collection

New York, NY, July 6, 2020—KnollTextiles (NYSE: KNL), the first company to address the fabric needs of the commercial interior founded by Florence Knoll in 1947, has introduced the high-performance Destination Collection with 4 bleach cleanable upholsteries, drapery, privacy fabric and 3 vinyl wallcoverings.

The performance-driven collection beautifully balances abstract and structural elements. The Destination Collection has four bleach cleanable upholsteries featuring Stripe It, a full- width repeat épinglé construction suitable for outdoor use that is also antimicrobial. Utopia is a budget friendly indoor/outdoor velvet available in 20 colors, while Vice Versa and Retreat offer pattern of varying scales. Vice Versa is a small but mighty geometric and Retreat is a calming midscale organic design. All have performance attributes like stain resistance and excellent light fastness. Stripe It, Retreat and Vice Versa are made in the USA.

On the vertical side is Glance, KnollTextiles first bleach cleanable indoor/outdoor double- width drapery, Signal HHI compliant privacy fabric and three embossed vinyl wallcoverings in a nuanced palette. Drift and Fragment are in the KT Wall category of wallcoverings $25/yard and under. Drift and Trek are phthalate-free vinyl and made in the USA.

UPHOLSTERY

Based on the simple and orderly arrangement of shapes found in architectural facades, Vice Versa is a small scale, multi-color geometric pattern. An important aspect of this design is the repeat, which is expertly balanced by the horizontal, vertical and soft diagonal shapes.

The yarns selected for Vice Versa soften the linework and add just the right amount of dimension and subtle texture to the surface. Made in the USA.

The idea for Retreat was developed through a study of the rough and varied textural layers of tree bark. Retreat’s textural richness is achieved by weaving a combination of slub and heathered yarns giving it a dry, yet sophisticated hand and linen-like look. Made in the USA.

DRAPERY

Signal has a combination of subtle pinstripes with a soothing ombre. It was designed so the weight and value of color would read equally on the face and back, creating a well-balanced surrounding.

The palette consists of six non-age, non-gender specific colorways appropriate for healthcare, wellness and beyond. Trevira CS is a unique type of polyester where the chemical composition of the fiber makes it inherently flame retardant.

WALLCOVERING

Drift mimics the gestures and linear shifts found in windblown sand. The curved lines ebb and flow across the surface, intersecting and diverging to create shadow and texture. Pearl or metallic inks highlight the linear pattern cross currents and enhance the curvature of the emboss that is proprietary to KnollTextiles. Made in the USA.

About KnollTextiles

KnollTextiles is currently under the creative direction of Dorothy Cosonas, who combines clean, clear color with modern, elegant patterns and textures. In 2005 Cosonas was named the 11th Creative Director of KnollTextiles. Her inaugural collection won a Best of NeoCon Gold award – her first of 9 along with 7 Silver awards for Knoll. In 2008, she founded Knoll Luxe as the fashion forward luxury component of KnollTextiles where she has contributed her own work along with collaborating fashion designers such as Proenza Schouler, Rodarte and Maria Cornejo. Her work was a major part of KnollTextiles 2011 retrospective exhibition at the Bard Graduate Center and has been accepted into the permanent collection of Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian National Design Museum.
