Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children

The Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children, located in Birmingham, Alabama is dedicated solely to the treatment of children. Opened in August 2012 as part of Children’s of Alabama, the organization is now the third largest pediatric hospital in the United States. The hospital worked with Dallas design firm HKS and Brimingham-based Knoll dealer Business Interiors, Inc. to furnish the newly constructed twelve-story, 760,000-square-foot campus.

The Hospital selected Generation by Knoll®, which offers optimal ergonomic support in a variety of work postures, for its nurse stations and in operating rooms. Constructed using a flexible and durable, high performance elastomer, Generation features soft edges, is easy to clean and maintain, and has been cleaning agent tested by independent laboratories. Reception areas feature D’Urso Swivel Chairs in bright textiles, which add a playful balance of utility and whimsy. Gigi® Side Chairs in patient rooms, also in a bright color palette, offer both strength and flexibility.
